Our studio may not be open to the public for the next few weeks but Stella and the Team are available to meet by phone or zoom. We'd love to hear from you!
Paris, Je T’aime! Stella Mannering uncovers the Interior Design Trends to watch this season.
To quote Audrey Hepburn, ‘’Paris is always a good idea’’, and so it didn’t take much persuasion for Stella to steal herself away from her desk last week and escape to the French capital for a long weekend at Maison & Objet!
To those unfamiliar with the name; for the design world; this professional trade fair is the biggest event of the season – it’s the leading home décor exhibition connecting the international interior design and lifestyle community – and the fact that it’s based in Paris makes it just too good to resist!
Macaron in hand, we sat down and interviewed Stella on her highlights from the show….
From an Interior Designer’s point of view, can you describe Maison & Objet in a few words?
Enormous! Inspiration overload! Buzzy!
What were the key trends at the show?
Colour is back in every shade from Tobacco, to Mandarin to Blush Pink. Retro furniture prevails and Tribal design is still big news, I also saw lots of beautiful textured plain fabrics with flecks of colour.
What makes Maison different to other Interior trade shows?
It’s huge!! The fusion of so many companies from far & wide makes it a truly cosmopolitan, global affair.
What was your ‘Best in Show?’
The picnic by Sonja Quandt silver was exceptional!
Which stand was the most inspirational?
Missoni was unexpectedly powerful and also Fendi for its exquisite attention to detail.
What new discovery are you desperate to use in your next Interior Scheme?
The hand-blown vases from Guaxs would add a touch of magic to any interior, I love their organic form, delicate colour and nuanced texture.
What was your most quirky find?
The Ciclotte exercise bike is a completely unique piece where practical need and sculptural beauty are united, and it might be just be the perfect fit for a home gym we are currently working on!
And last but certainly not least, where was the best party?
It would have to be the Pierre Frey presentation lubricated by one or two bottles of Perriet Jouet!! Paris, Je T’aime? Paris, J’adore!
