Being embedded in the design world we are predisposed to be fascinated by aesthetics and over the years our eyes have only grown sharper but there is another sense we have come to greatly rely on – the sense of touch. We have an obsession with texture and a hypersensitivity for the feel, handle and finish of any products we view and whilst scanning a supplier’s website or flicking through an Interiors magazine can inspire much joy, there’s still nothing quite like getting up close and personal.
This week we had the pleasure of doing just that with the latest furniture collections from Phillippe Hurel and their vast array of exquisite finishes, the designs are unusual, strong and robust - pieces of luxury and elegance. But the finishes, have to be touched to be believed, sandblasted larch, gouged oak, grained leathers, coloured concrete, patinated bronze, inlaid lacquers, and textured metals all of which are shaped and formed by skilled artisans who share a common objective: ‘’an exact and uncompromising choice of materials and finishes, a mastery of form’’.
Masters they are, this furniture is certainly something to behold but to touch is even better.
